We know that kids should never be sold, but more than 12M children like Camila* are being exploited each day.

Help us bring freedom to children like Camila this Giving Tuesday.

Eduardo* first reached out to Camila through an Instagram DM. His profile picture featured a life-of-the-party smile. “You’re so beautiful,” he told Camila. “I can’t believe you don’t have a boyfriend.”
“I don’t have time to date,” Camila shyly confided. “My dad’s not around. My mom’s sick. I’m trying to find a job so that we have enough money for food and medicine. I can’t even go to school anymore.”
Before long, Eduardo was offering seemingly miraculous solutions to Camila’s problems. He made her feel special, showering her with compliments she’d never received before as a socially withdrawn kid who had dropped out of school. He said he owned a bar in another country, and she could work there as a waitress. He’d buy the ticket and take care of all the travel arrangements. All she had to do was get on a plane.
Camila felt this was the break she had been waiting for, and her family agreed.
As soon as she got off the plane, something felt wrong. Eduardo took her passport and ID, claiming it was for safekeeping. He took her to his bar, ushering her into a dingy back room. A mini dress lay across a thin mattress. Before long, Camila had the terrifying realization: she would not be waitressing. She would be sold for sex to bar patrons.
Time remaining to send freedom to girls like Camila:
Camila has been there for three months now. Eduardo’s compliments have turned to vicious belittling and abuse, and he forces Camila to take drugs to make it easier to control her.
She isn’t even able to send money home to her mom as she hoped; Eduardo is keeping the money from the men who abuse her for himself. Although Eduardo usually closely watches what Camila does on her phone, she was recently able to get on a WhatsApp call with her mom.“Please help,” she whispered hurriedly. “He’s hurting me.”
The Exodus Road has a team on the ground in Latin America. We work closely with authorities to recover and repatriate girls like Camila. We know that she deserves safety. We know that none of this is her fault. We know that the world doesn’t have to be this way.
We know that kids should never be sold. You know that, too.
This Giving Tuesday, will you join us so that we can find and free more children like Camila who are being trafficked right now? Her need is urgent. We can’t do this without you.
Our deepest gratitude to these partners leading the way in declaring that kids should never be sold!
