Seven women and one teenage girl originally came from two different countries: India and Bangladesh. But they were all united by the experience of exploitation.
An organized group of traffickers sold these young women through a network of three different brothels in the same area, forcing them to offer sexual services to men. They were not allowed to leave the two hotels and the bar where they each worked.
Things might have stayed like this for a long time — except that The Exodus Road heard about the case and began to work on it with local law enforcement partners.
The logistics of raiding three locations simultaneously are complex, and the risk of tip-offs can be high. But on this particular night, law enforcement was able to take down every single brothel, arresting nine women who had been running the trafficking ring. All three exploitative businesses are now closed.

Meanwhile, The Exodus Road ensured that a social worker was present to comfort the survivors, who were confused and traumatized. Their fear made them reluctant to share details of their experiences at first, but as our social worker continued to reassure them, they bravely offered strong statements to the police. This will ensure that their traffickers are heavily sentenced.
This triple-pronged operation is possible because of the way you support our global teams as they pursue justice for the forgotten. Thank you!
