Multiple women freed from a trafficking operation spanning many countries, an international network shut down

Women were being recruited in a Latin American country, but they weren’t staying there. 

After being lured with enticing job offers, the women were being taken by a network of traffickers to multiple European countries. Once they arrived there, they were forced into commercial sexual exploitation. Their passports were confiscated to keep them in these countries far from home, and the traffickers demanded they pay back exorbitant debts accrued in their travel. 

International law enforcement contacted The Exodus Road’s team and requested assistance as they tried to pinpoint the traffickers and recover these women. Our investigators and social workers stepped in.

We were able to help bring some of these women back home to Latin America, offering them the consolation of therapy and practical support. They’re now both enrolled back in school, training to start their own small businesses. This care helped them feel safe enough to give crucial testimony to law enforcement despite the deep emotional distress they survived.
