There were so many moments when these two women’s freedom almost didn’t become reality.
Their trafficker was a well-connected woman in their local region, associated with a lot of trafficking activity in the area. This may have given her the confidence to feel that she could call all of the shots in how she manipulated and exploited the lives of others.
The women she had lured and trapped into trafficking were kept in a building, constantly watched, only allowed to leave with a guard. When investigators and police officers posed as customers and began to arrange a meetup so they could free those the woman was victimizing, they were subject to the perpetrator’s whims. She changed her mind often on when she was willing to meet and who she would bring with her. At times, it seemed like she might back out altogether.

There was cause for discouragement. But our team persevered, encouraging law enforcement partners to do the same. They finally managed to get the trafficker to commit to bringing these two women to a meeting place. Police and social workers were waiting.
Now, the two women are in the care of a safehouse, where they can begin recovering. Our team never hesitated in their resolve to ensure freedom for these survivors, despite the unreliable trafficker. That trafficker is now in jail, and more of her network is being pursued, because of your support!
