24 women and girls were freed from multi-site trafficking in Latin America, and a network of traffickers was arrested

Four teenage girls and 20 women were ensnared in a terrifying web of exploitation. Shuffled between apartments, beaches, brothels, spas, and bars, these young women and girls were forced by their traffickers to take a steady stream of psychoactive substances while their bodies were used by buyers.

Many of these survivors had come from a neighboring country, looking for legitimate work. Instead, they were trapped, shuffled between sites by a cruelly sophisticated network of traffickers.

The problem was so significant that law enforcement needed to call on extra help. They asked for the support of The Exodus Road’s global investigative team.

Gathering information on multiple sites at once is difficult, especially when so many of them seem like innocent businesses or residences on the surface. But our team is accustomed to digging deep, and these girls were worth finding.

Finally, the government was able to enact a massive raid, targeting a variety of locations where they knew these teenagers and young women were being abused. They freed all 24 survivors, transferring them into the safekeeping of government social services. Meanwhile, they were able to arrest the majority of the network, which was comprised of around 20 criminals.
