Adria* was like any other 15-year-old: she went to school, hung out with friends, and dreamed about what her future would hold.

But her school was not a safe place to dream.

A network of traffickers stalked the school, looking for girls who might be targets. They snared Adria with false promises. Her trafficker listed her for sale: $250 to be the first to rape her.

Image Representative. A network of traffickers stalked the school grounds, looking for girls like Adria who might be targets.

When the time came and the reality of what was happening hit home for Adria, she courageously refused to comply. She tried to run. But the traffickers caught her, brutally beating her.

Adria’s injuries were so severe that she had to be taken to the hospital. The police were called. And they called The Exodus Road.

Our team quickly investigated the situation and figured out what had happened. They confirmed that the predatory trafficking network was waiting for Adria to leave the hospital, ready to try selling her again.

But we weren’t going to let that happen.

Our psychologist spent time with Adria, hearing her story and offering empathy for what she’d been through. She collaborated with a government social worker to make a safety plan for Adria. They talked with her mom, explaining that there was an urgent need to relocate Adria to another city while the traffickers were still at large.

We made sure that Adria and her mom got out safely without the traffickers knowing.

Law enforcement will continue to work on this case, especially because Adria shared haunting information: “I know other girls in my school are victims too.”

Until every 15-year-old schoolgirl like Adria is safe, we’ll keep pursuing heavy cases like these. Thank you for entering the heartbreak with us to ensure these brave survivors’ rights can be restored.
